“The Circus Series - each a unique painting on paper - is not related to any particular event or experience. Rather, it reflects her eruptive natural energy and the thrill of making daring leaps into space. The surface tension between the inert subdued colours and the sudden flashes of brilliant light is typical of her work. and twentieth centuries. The circus theme with its popular associations has been painted by some major artists in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Lorrie Whiting uses a difficult technique to enhance the dreamlike quality of her childlike and magical images.” Felicity St John Moore, 1997
