Deborah Walker was born in Melbourne and studied Fine Arts at Caulfield Institute of Technology (1974), the Victorian College of the Arts (1980) and Monash University. She has exhibited regularly with more than 80 exhibitions and 16 solo exhibitions both at a national and international level. She has been a finalist in many national prizes including the Doug Moran Portrait Prize, the Portia Geach Art Prize and Gallipoli Art Prize.
Deborah Walker is represented in major collections throughout Australia including National Gallery Australia and NGV as well as collections in U.S.A and Europe.
